MUNICIPAL CONTESTS
(British Official Wireless.) (.Received 31st October, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, 30th October. Polling in tho English municipal elections takes place on Monday. The Parliamentary elections have overshadowed the local contests, but ia many instances vigorous campaigns are being conducted by the opposing parties. In the provinces one-third of the membership of councils will be renewed, but in the case of 2S London boroughs all members are re-elected at one time. In Londoii about 2700 candidates havebeen nominated for over 1300 scats. The. main issue everywhere is economy.
