RECIPROCAL PENSIONS

The question of reciprocal pensions was raised in tho House of Representatives yesterday by Mr. W. Nash (Labour, Hutt), who asked the Minister of Pensions whether negotiations on the subject with other countries were being continued. Mr. Nash also raised the question of war pensions. He pointed out that under the War Pensions Act there was provision for the payment of a pension in respect of a dependant over fifteen years of age where tho person was totally dependent on the pensioner, and he urged that the provision should be extended in respect of widow pensioners with children totally dependent on them.

11l reply, the Minister (the Hon. .7. G. Cobbe) said that there were no negotiations for reciprocal pensions being carried on at the present time. Tic promised to look into the other point raised by Mr. Nash.
