The programme of the I'etonc Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club's meeting, on 12th December, was approved. SHIELD FOR ATHLETES. A presentation of a handsome shield, to be given to the club gaining the most points in tht march past at athletic meetings during the season, was made by Mr. tl. G. Mayer. Mr Mayer said that at the meeting at Athletic Park last year, at which the Americans, Rothert. Kiser, and Simpson, and the Australian, J. Carl toil, competed, he was very impressed with the parade of athletes, and lie wished it to be made an established part of each meeting, ami had given the shield for thn« purpose. After careful consideration it had been decided to call the shield the 'A. C. Kitto" shield, in recognition of the valuable services Mr. ■ Kitto had rendered to amateur alhleticH in New Zealand. The competition for the shield will commence at the meeting at Athletic Park on 19th December, and Mr. J. .Duthic is to be asked to act as judge. On the motion of Mr. It. JU'Cdnmck it was decided to scud a letter of appreciation to Mr. Mayer. AFTERNOON MEETINGS. A proposal to hold Saturday afternoon sports, meetings once a fortnight during the summer months in place of evening meetings was favourably received, and it was decided to hold meetings at Athletic Park on 28th November and 19th December. It was. suggested that there be no entry fees, but that all competitors and officials be charged for admission to the ground. No trophies would be allotted, but if at the end of the season a reasonable profit was made the centre would apportion it amongst the winners, and, if possible, the seconds. .It was also suggested that the centre should give medals for the most points gained during the season in certain events. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: Patron, Mr. K. W. M'Villy; president, Mr. A. 0. Kitto; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. H. Bennett (Wellington), C. M'Kenzie Strouts (Masterton), F. Aisher (Manawatu), G. Madison (Hawkes Bay, Poverty Bay); deputy-chairman of committee, Ma\ 11. M'Cormick; treasurer, Mr. D. Wilson; executive committee, Messrs. A. C. Kitto (president), H. M'Cormick, D. Wilson, J. Stalker (cycling), L. Bond (harriers), H. Rose (Wairarapa), G. S. Leeder (Manawalu), F. S. Hill (Hawkes Bay, Poverty Bay), F. Bond (Kiwi); delegates to the N.Z.A.A.A., Messrs. R. W. M'Villy and ,T O'SulHvan; executive delegate, Mr. J. (/'Sullivan; starter. Mr. T. W. Leslie; assistant starters. Messrs. J. O'Sulhvan and L. A. Traccy; timekeeper, Mr. U West; local officer, Mr. IT. Rose; cycling local'officer, Mr. G. Harrison; walking judges, Messrs., A. TJ. Sievwright and .J. Ellis; gear committee, Messrs. Hill, Collyer, and the secretary; programme committee, Messrs. Ingram and Philpott. As Mr. T. S. Philpott tendered his resignation as secretary, it was decided to leave the matter of filling the vacancy to a sub-committee. Mr. D. Paris also tendered his resignation as handicapper, but consented to. act in that capacity until the vacancy was filled. The question of appointing a cycling handicapper was referred to the. cycling sub-committee.
