DOMINION'S REHABILITATION
A committee set up by the.Dominion executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union reported yesterday afternoon that it had decided upon the -following'matters as being of vital and urgent importance to the economic rehabilitation of the Dominion: (1) An immediate adjustment.of interest rates; (-li) the total derating of farm lands lYom general rates levied for maintenance purposes; (3) suspension of the I.C. and A. Act during the present economic crisis, and its amendment so as to provide for compulsory conciliation and optional arbitration; M) further economies in public and local expenditure to combine a balanced Budget with the general reduction of taxation which is essential to the recovery of prosperity; (5) a drastic downward revision of Customs tariff as soon as the Budgetary position will permit to reduce costs of production and living. The report was adopted and a copy is lo be forwarded to each candidate taking part in the General Election.
