CHRISTCHURCH, 28th October. At Addington market to-day there were large entries in the main fat stock sections, and there was a general easing of values, fat sheep, fat cattle, and spring lambs recording declines. Store sheep.—A fair-sized entry, including hoggets and ewes and lambs principally. A steady sale with no alteration in prices as compared with late rates. Values were: Good s.m. ewes and lambs, to 11s 9d; sound and failing mouth ewes and lambs, 8s to 9s; aged ewes and lambs, 3s 6d to 6s 6d; ordinary two and fourtooth halfbred ewes (dry), to 11s Gd; good half-bred ewe hoggets, to 16s; ordinary three-quarter-bred ewe hoggets, to 11b; good wether hoggets, to 12s 2d; good wether hoggets (shorn), to 12s 2d; ordinary wether hoggets, to 9s; young forward wethers (shorn), 9s to lls 4d. Spring lambs.—An entry of 577—the smallest for some weeks. The quality was excellent. There was a general easing of Is to Is 6d a head. The average price per lb was about 7d to 7%d. Fat sheep.—An entry of 4300. A dull sale, the easing for both classes amounting to Is to Is 6d a head on the average. Extra prime heavy wethers sold to 23s 4d; prime heavy, 18s 6d to 22s Gd; medium, 15s to 18s; light, lls Od to 14s 6d; show ewes, 27s lOd; extra prime heavy ewes, to 21s 4d; prime, lus to 17s; medium, lls 6d to 14s fid; light, 9s to lls.
Fat cattle. —An entry of 455 head—the largest for a long period. A few head came- from the North Island and large consignments from Otago. The quality on the average was good. The market was irregular, with a general easing of £1 a head on the average. The demand was' very weak over the concluding stages of the auction. Best beef made from 2(is to 30s per 1001b, the latter figure being made only by a small proportion of the primest beef; good medium prime, 22s to 255; heavy, to 245; ordinary, 20s to 235; inferior, 17s Od to 20s; rough, down to 13s. Values were: Extra prime heavy steers, to £15 7s Cd; prime heavy, £11 to £13;. prime medium weight, £S 15s to £10 15s; ordinary quality, £G to £8 ,10s; light, £4 5s to £5 15s; extra prime heifers, to £13 7s Od; prime, £8 10a 'to £11; medium, £5 15s to £7 15s; light, £4 to £5 10s; extra prime cows, to £11 2s Od; prime, £7 10s to £10; medium, £5 to £7; light, £3 5s to £4 15s.
Fat pigs.—A smeller entry, with baconers in short supply. There was a. fair demnnd, especially for porkers. Values were: Choppers, £3 to .Co 33 6d; baconera, 47s Od to Sus Gil; heavy baconers, £3 to £3 7s 6d; avernge price per Ib, od to 5%d; porkers, 38s to 41s Od; heavy porkers., 42s 6d to 46a Cd; average price per lh, 6d to Id.
