CASE OF BRADMAN
BOARD OF CONTROL BLAMED
DEDUCTION FROM BONUS
(Received 27th October, 2 p.m.)
LONDON, 26th October.
The "Daily Telegraph," admitting that Bradman would be a great fillip to Lancashire cricket, says that no true sportsman wants to see cricketers, bought and sold like merchandise or Soccer footballers. The papur points out that Bradman is in no way blameworthy for his part in the negotiations. Actually the villain in the piece is the Board of Control for its deducting £50 from Bradman's bonus as the result of his journalistic activities in England. Its officiousness is perhaps mistaken, but it is possiblo to sympathise wiui that body confronted by a slightly mutinous cricketer, backed by the nation to the last adoring man, woman, and child.
