THE SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY

Sunday was a busy day at the Sailors l-'ricnd Society, when the missioner, Mr. ,1 Moore, preached to interested listeners on "Still Needful" and "L-o-ve.' The lessons were taken by Messrs. Jones and Baker, Mrs. Good was at the organ, nnd Mrs. Moi'risby at the piano. The tea was token by Mr. W. Wcston and party;-and the song service that followed the evening service will long be'remembered for the beautiful solos of Mrs. A. 11. Colbrook, the hearty singing, and the helpful playing of the instrumentalists. Labour Day was a full one for the 1111ssioucr and his workers. A very big crowd of men turned out for the picnic, which was held under the most favourable circumstances, :game.after game causing roars of laughter, the. prizes for these coming from well-wishers, The tug-01-war, England v. New Zealand, was won by the former. The football match, New. Zealand against all-coiners was won by.the latter. Lunch,' tea, and supper were served by (i band of workers,.led by Mrs. J. Mooro. The hearty thanks of the men were expressed for the provision made for them when so far from home. The prize-win-ner's in the day's events wore: Mcsdamcs Williams and Morrisby and .Miss Symes, and Messrs. Murdock. Porter. Morrisby, Riley, 'LVmpost, Kausle.v. Woodward, Olive. P. Williams, Derbyshire, Kidtl, A. M'Kenzip. 11. Brown. Douglas, Black, G. Brown. Wilson, and King- .Mr. G. Baker presented a silver wnli-h to the champion -if I lie rlay.
