RIFLE SHOOTING
KARORI CLUB
On Saturday the Karori Defence Rifle Club shot on the 300 yds range. There was to have been a shoot over 500 yards also, but owing to a change in the weather with heavy rain this was abandoned. During the shoot at 300 the light was dull, and there was a gentle breeze from the targets to the mounds, giving practically ■"dead-in" readings for windage. Importer led the field with 47 off the gun, one over the club standard for. the 300 yds. The young member, D. Rankin, was next with 40, having reached the standard using only two points of his handicap—a fine performance. The scratch weekly trophy was won by H. Frankland, who counted-out P. B. Goldfinch and I. W. Ching, 45 each, and the handicap weekly trophy by R. Porter. Ranges next Saturday will be 500 and 600 yards. The championship series starts on the ' following Saturday.
