RED CROSS BRANCH IN PETONE.

A meeting convened by the Mayor, Mr. D. M'Kenzie, will be held this evening at 8 o'clock in the Council Chambers, Petone, to form a branch of the Red Cross Society. The society in past years has been operating in the district through its Wellington Centre executive. The Hed Cross is a movement of world-wide significance, having under its" bapnef. 57 nations each with their well-organised national society. It is hoped that the meeting will be well attended by. a band of enthusiastic workers readjr to further the ideals for which the Red Cross movement throughout the world stands. A talk upon the aims, objects, and ideals of the Red Cross will be pi yon by the general secretary, illustrated by lantern slides.
