« Dame Raclntol Crowdy, the British sociologist, recently said that soven States in the United States permitted girls to marry at the age or' 12 years. The Children's Bureau regrets that she is wrong. She should have said 11 years. This was admitted regretfully by the bureau officials to bo the actual state of affairs, according to their latest records, says Renter's correspondent at Washington. The Russell Sage Foundation Study of 1025 on child marriages in the United States estimated that 343,000 women and girls then living in the United States began their married life as child-brides.
