FORTY HOURS' ADORATION
The ceremony of the Forty Hours' Adoration concluded on Sunday evening at St. Joseph's Church, Buckle street. His Grace Archbishop O'Shea preached to a congregation numbering over 1000. His Grace congratulated the people on their devotion, and explained the significance of the ceremony and of the Sacrament of the Blessed Eucharist. That day they were celebrating the Feast of Christ the King. He did not require a throne of marble, but wished to reign in the hearts of men, so that their lives would reflect His presence. His Grace exhorted all to be faithful to the Sacrament of the Eucharist, to be regular and frequent communicants. He made a special plea for support of Catholic Foreign Missions through the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. In gratitude for the estimable gift o]' Catholic Faith which they were privileged to enjoy they should be keen and anxious to make a little sacrifice by prayers and alms to extend the light of their Faith to the heathens and pagans. Some 15,000 Catholic missionary priests, brothers, and nuns were engaged in the mission fields, and required the support of their co-relig-ionists. A procession of the Blessed Sacrament, His Grace carrying the Sacred Host, was formed, and some 500 members of the Holy Name Society took part. The procession moved from the church to the grounds, where the members of the Holy Name Society formed a Guard of Honour. The evening's devotions concluded with Solemn Benediction by His Grace the Archbishop, assisted by Rev. lather Fletcher as deacon, Rev. Father Cleary, 5.8., sub-deacon, and Rev. Dr. M'Rae and Rev. Father Evans as masters of ceremouDuring the forty hours the members o£ the Holy Name Society spent, in relays, one hour each night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. in nocturnal adoration and for their benefit confessions were heard and Holy Communion administered each hour after midnight. The ladies of the Sacred Heart Society and the Children of Mary watched during the day, hours from 6 a.m. till 10 The altar was specially and beautifully decorated by the ladies, under Miss A. Davies, and was a mass of flowers and lighted candles, whilst electric light bulbs coloured red traced the words "Christ the King," immediately over the high altar. St. Joseph's Choir, under Mr. Fernie, rendered appropriate music during the ceremony. _^^__^_^_
