REASONS WHY NOT
NEW ZEALAND CRICKET TOUR
TESTS AND OTHER THINGS
(Received 21st October, 11 a.m.)
SYDNEY, This Day.
The "Daily Telegraph" says that the consent of the Board of Control would bo necessary before a New South Wales cricket team could visit New Zealand. Only the second eleven could be sent as the leading players are required to remain in Australia for the Tests. The proposal meets with opposition from club delegates who complain about tho demands already made upon players for big cricket. A tour of New Zealand would drain club ranks still further.
As was pointed out in "The Post" yesterday, the final match of the Test scries between South Africa and Australia commences on the 12th February, ami there would be ample time after thai; for a team to visit N*w Zealand. As far as is known there has been no request from New Zealand for a team from Now .South Wales. An Australian team was desired, and the sending of a (cam representative of the States would not mean a drain on the clubs. Surely three or even four players could be spared from each of the four main States for a short tour of the Dominion late in the season, and there is no doubt that thero would be players in. plenty eager to make the trip.—"Not Out."
