The German aviator Gronau, who is blazing a trail'across the Arctic for the American-European mail eervie^, arrived"at Godthaab' after a nightmare flight of 1000 miles across'the Greenland icecap from Scoresby Sound. He departed for Godhavn, from which place he will make a final hop to America. "' Captain Wolfgang yon Gronau fieir the Atlantic in the Dornier-Wal' eea« plane D-1422 in August of last year. The flight was for training purposes-for both yon Gronau, who is manager of the Deutsche Verkerhs Flieger Schule, and his crew. The seaplane was one lof the type used by Amundsen for a i flight *to the Arctic in 1925. Gronas 'flew from the most northern island of Germany, List on Sylt, landing at Bed!ford Basin after refuelling at Faro* Islands and visiting Iceland, Greet* land, and Labrador.
