DECISION RESERVED
LEAVE TO APPEAL SOUGHT
The Court of Appeal reserved its decision yesterday afternoon at i"ie conclusion of legal argument in connection with the motion moved on tiehalf of William Alexander Johnston for leave to appeal against his conviction by a jury, at the Supreme Court in Gisborne on a charge of having indecently assaulted a girl. The application was based cm the grounds that Mr.-Justice Blair (the trial Judge) refused to reserve certain questions of law arising out of and incidental to the trial,- and arising out of his Honour's direction to the jury. In intimating that the Court would take time to consider its judgment, the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, said that in view of the decision1 in a case that had boen quoted in argument the matter was of some importance. ! Mr. L. K. Wilson appeared in support of the motion, and the SolicitorGeneral (Mr. A. Fair, K.C.) for the Crown. :
