BRITISH BOWLERS
DATES OF VISIT UNKNOWN
INFORMATION LACKING
Exactly when a British bowling teani will visit New Zealand is not known to tho council of the New Zealand Bowling Association. The minutes of the November meeting of the International Bowling Board stated that the visit would take place at the end of 1932, but other information, which has been, received indicates that the visit will tako place in the 1931-32 season. Tho matter came before the council of tho New Zealand Bowing Association at the annual meeting in Christchurch last1 week, when it was decided to send a cablegram to Mr. Marcus Marks, a New Zealand member of tha board;•' asking him to clarify tho position. The minutes of a meeting o£ the International Board, held on Bth July, were brought before the meeting of the New Zealand Council. These stated that a letter had been received inviting a British team to visit New^ Zealand, in conjunction with Australia, at the end of 1932. The Australian Bowl* ing Association also cabled confirming tho invitation to visit the Commonwealth at that time. Both invitations were aceeped. NO REPLY TO LETTERS. No official in formation that the International Board had agreed to send ai British team to New Zealand had been received, said Mr. G. It. Gladding (Auckland), the immediate past see* rotary of the council. He had Beat tho invitation last September, but had not yet received a reply. Duriaghis year as secretary he had sent ,eight letters to the International Board and had not received one reply. It was only through the courtesy of Mr. Ivou B. Thomas, a member of the board, that he had received a copy of the minutes. These minutes distinctly stated that the visit was to be made at tha end of 1932, but in correspondence sent elsewhere, it had been stated that the visit was to bo during the 1931-33 season. There has been some difficulty ia getting a Now Zealand representative to act on tho board, but he had just received a cablegram from Mr. Marcus Marks/ of Wellington, stating that he and Mr. Ivor Thomas would represent New Zealand at the meeting of the board, which was to be held in London on Thursday 3ast. ■ Mr. J.Pascoe. (Auckland) said that in conversation with the president of the Canadian Association he had been told thai; the association had beea informed- that tho International Board did not desire Canada to send a team to Britain this year in view of the fact that a British team was coming out to Australia and Now Zealand. The president (Mr. H. B. Oakley) suggested that Mr. Marks bo cabled, immediately for information. It was decided to- leave tho matter, until definite information wee qf*tk* jailo from jttte SitsgaattojiaJßoaoflj
