CABINET AND EKANCE
RATHER SEE COUNTRY CRASH
'(Received 13th July, 11 a.m. *) BERLIN", 12th July. t Cabinet has decided not to submit to the French conditions for granting credit, at least so far as the cessation of warship construction ' and, tho renunciation of the Austro-Gennan Customs Union are concerned. ..* . , The decision was. readied after lengthy Cabinet sessions, one lasting twelve hours j and concluding at 3 .o'clock in the morning, and the second begun in. the afternoon. The Reparations Committee, the Reichsbank directors, and leading bankers met simultaneously,, and the bankers were summoned to join Cabinet's midnight sitting. Cabinet arrived at its decision owing to the feeling that it is supported by the majority of Germans who would rather see the country crash financially than submit to what is regarded as blackmail of. tile worst possible kind, eventually leading to a worse position.' It is also believed that Franco -would soon be making fresh and absolutely impossible de■jnands.
