HOCKEY
CANTERBURY HOLD SHIELD
(By Telegraph.—Puts Association.) ;. CHRETCHURCH, 11th July. A match for the Hockey Shield was played to-day between Canterbury, holders, and Waikato, challengers, the matchresulting in a draw, two goals each. Canterbury thus retains the shield. Waikato 'drew ,first blood, a goal by C. Spiers,'but Bell equalised for Canter-, bury. . Before half-time Waikato again took the'leiad when, from a scramble in the home circle, C, Spiers shot his second goal. Canterbury held Waikato on 'the defensive fora long spell without scoring, but at last, two minutes before time, the' former; sent a good pass to Bell, who scored.'
