JOHNSONVILLE WIN. Before a record crowd for the ground one of the hardest and fastest games. of the season was played between Johnsonville and Hutfc at Kelburn Park. Both teams gave an excellent display, and although beaten by J3-6, Hutt were by no means disgraced. The packs worked hard i throughout with superiority in weight and ' speed slightly in favour of Johnsonville. It was the Johnsonville backs that proved the deciding factor in the game, and with Chancy at first five-eighths made the openings from which most of the points were scored.

Hutt lost no time in attacking, and went straight through to Johnsonville's twentyfive, where Turner cleared. Smith collected the ball and play swung to Valley territory, where a bad pass spoilt a sure try. A line-out in the corner put the ball in Bryant's hands and he went across well out. The kick failed. 3-0. Hutt were obliged to force repeatedly, Kenny and M'Leary showing to good advantage in Johnsonville's attack. An infringement in front of the posts let Trenchard put across a good penalty. Johusonville 6, _ Hutt 0. Johnsonville continued to dominate play for the remainder of the spell, and at the interval the score was unchanged.

Parsloe ran down the line, but was forced out in the corner. Heavy work on the Hutt line finally resulted in Hunter going over. The kick failed, and the game ended without further score.
