BISHOP'S RECEPTION

CLERGY ENTERTAINED

Diocesan Synod week has been made very pleasant for the visiting and local clergy, as afternoon and evening tea has been arranged each day by Mrs. Sprott in the side room of the Synod Hall, those parties proving very pleasant and restful. On Saturday a deJightful afternoon was given at Bishopscourt, when tho Bishop of Wellington and Mrs. Sprott entertained tho clergy of tho Diocese and a number of Wellington Church people. The weather cleared up and Bishcipscourt was a very pleasant place, with blazing fires and many beautiful flowers. Arum lilies wci-o. generously used, with, winter foliage, whilo yellow narcissi made tho toa tables bright and fragant. Tho Bishop and Mrs. Sprott received tho guests in the wido hall, and three other receptionrooms wore filled with guests. Their Excellencies wero present later in tho afternoon, being accompanied by Lieutenant Elworthy, R.N. Lady Bledislou was in a heather mixturo tweed ensemble, with touches of tomato red, her beretta being to match, and she woro also handsome fox furs. Mrs. Sprott was in silver grey laco over satin, and a wrap of black georgette and lace. Sho was assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Coleridge, tho latter wearing brown flowered chiffon, Miss Campbell in pale grey,- and Miss Mollio Coleridge in a black satin frock. Other friends assisted as well, and a gramophone provided some wellchosen music.
