SYDNEY, 9th July. Replying to a question by Mr. T. E. Bavin, Leader of the Opposition, in. the Assembly to-day, Mr. J. T. Lang announced that the Governor had refused to accept the advice of the Ministry for the appointment of additional members to the Legislative Council. During an angry interlude a-Nation-alist member, Mr. A. Beid, called Mr. Lang "the biggest darned scoundrel in Australia." Mr. Eeid was removed from the Chamber shouting names at Mr. Lang, who did not reply. Mr. F. S. Boyce's motion in the Legislative Council endorsing the Council's rejection of the Emergency Income Tax Bill was carried by 33 votes to 16, several Labour nominees crossing the floor to vote against the Government.
