CITY MISSION
"TRIUMPH OF FAITH
Speaking at the opening of the Wellington City Mission new building yesterday, Canon James said the history of the mission was enough to cheer up all, even in the present depressing limes. The history of the mission ' was a wonderful story from the beginning, when it. was the parochial mission of St. Peter's, 'and, he said, all honour to the work which St. Peter's did in those days. The new buildings were a triumph of faith and work, and especially o: the indomitable faith and the magnificent' labours of- the Rev. T. Pielden Taylor, the missioner, who "had had the support of a loyal and enthusiastic band of helpers. Tho assistance given by tho women interested in the social movement was of special value. Tlie speaker expressed his conviction that the mission would expand beyond its present bounds. The mission had secured an abiding place in the affections and sympathy of the people of Wellington. Reference was made to the splendid work of the trustees, and, if it were not invidious, Canon James said, special mention should be made of the labours of the secretary (Mr. S. T. C: Sprott) and Mr. J- H. Hclliwcll (treasurer). ■
