MISSING GIRL
NO TRACE FOUND
SEARCH BEING CONTINUED
Although the police are making exhaustive inquiries, no trace has been found of Phyllis Avis Symons, aged 17, who has been missing from the place where sho was living in Adelaide road since 2uth or 26th June.
As was stated in last night's "Post," the police have reason to suspect that tho girl has met an untimely end and that her body has been disposed of. A party of detectives and police commenced digging operations yesterday in tho spoil from the new Kilbirnie tunnel for any evidence that might throw light on tho girl's disappearance. The work was 'continued to-day by a party of police and about 35 other men, who are working under tho supervision of SubInspector Ward and an engineer. Speaking to a "Post" representative to-day, the Commissioner of Police (Mr. W. G. Wohlmann) said that tho missing girl might be quite all right, but if that was the ease it seemed very strange that she had not communicated with her relations or friends. "No stone will be left unturned in an effort to discover her," said Mr. Wohlmann.
