BUSINESS MEN'S MEMORANDUM

Sir, —Doubtless unable to answer the question asked a few days ago, "how a minority vote in the Hauraki by-election could be construed into a clear majority," "Malvernian" is silent. BeiDg still anxious to learn how, when, and where any "swing of the pendulum" to Reform (as frequently claimed by the few supporters of that party) has lakeu place, and as they attempt to minimise the im--portance of the business men's memorandum, I now invito "Malvernian" or any other supporter of the Reform Party to publish a corresponding list of names of Wellington business men "opposed to the urgent need of forming a strong- National Government in New Zealand." —I am, etc.,
