PARISH BOUNDARIES

DIOCESAN DISTRICT

The report of tKe.:commission appointed by the Anglican Diocesan Synod last year to inquire into the rearrangement of the boundaries of parishes and parochial districts was submitted to the Synod .yesterday afternoon.-ft

The commission recommended that the parish districts* of Raetihi, Mangaweka, Kiwitea, Huntervillc, and Shannon should be amended and redrawn.

It was also recommended • that the Shannon, parochial district should -be included within the archdeaconry of Rangitikei, and that Rongotea should bo eliminated and the greater part of the area divided between Foxton and Bulls, with some ; smaller portions already /worked from Feilding going to that parish. This arrangement would result, it was stated, in a gross' saving of £500, and a saving to the diocese of £120.

The commission further recommended that the parish districts of Rongotea, Bulls, Foxton, Marton, Feilding, and Pohangina should be amended and redrawn. '' ; "

The (Commissioners stated that the result of the adoption of their recommendations would mean a* clearer and more workable definition; of boundaries; a possibility of greater efficiency in. the working of the archdeaconry; and an annual saying of : not less than £240- to the diocese in grants-in-aid. '

The report -was considered, by tho Synod in committee during the. afternoon and pnrt of the evening session, and was adopted with certain amendments.
