HUTT ROAD BUSES
EFFECT OF TRANSPORT BILL
The effect of the Transport Licensing Bill on transport services operating on the Hutt road was tho subject of a question asked of the Minister of Transport in the Houso of Representatives last night by Mr. \\ r. Nash (Labour, Hutt).
Mr. Veitch replied that the Bill would not affect tho Hutt road to any serious extent. Licences.were already issued by the local licensing authority —the City Council—and all existing licences would automatically continue until the expiry of the period for which they had been issued. The Bill provided that the Crown would be bound by the proposals, and that meant that the Kailway Department would have to apply for licences and would be entitled to preference by reason of the fact that it at present held control of the road.
