A "MODERATE DEMAND."
The Bank of New Zealand Produce Department has received the following advice from its London office under date 7th July: "The sales have opened with moderate competition and large attendance of buyers.. There is a moderate demand by all branches of the trade. Compared with the close of last series, prices for greasy merinos arc %d per lb lower, greasy crossbreds are %d to %d per lb lower." COMPARATIVE RATES. Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London agents, dated 7th July:—"The auctions opened here to-day with a large attendance of buyers. There is good general competition. Compared with the dosing rates of last sale, we quote: Greasy merino, best ■%d per lb lower, average %d to %d; fine halfbreds, 50/56 s, %d'to V>d; halfbreds, 48/50's, %d; fine crossbreds, 46/48's, %d; medium, 44/46's, %d; coarse, 40/44's, %d; low, 36/40's, %d; slipes—clothing %d, combing Id; scoured merinos, 7% to 10 p.c.) crossbreds 7Vs to 10 p.c; all lower." GOOD COMPETITION. Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report having received cable advice from their London house regarding the London wool sales, reading as follows: "Wool sales opened; average attendance of buyers, average selection. Greasy halfbred, 50/ , 56's, 8d; greasy threequarter-bred 48/50's, 7d- creasy fine crossbred, 46/48 s, umi, medium crossbred, 44/46's, Od; sliped prices 10 P c lower. Australian merino prices 5 p.c.'jower to 7% p.c. Competition good. "LARGE ATTENDANCE." Messrs. Dalgety and Company report, London, 7th July:-"London wool sales opened; selection fair, attendance of buyen large; competition active at the lower level. As compared with closing rates of-last series prices are as follow:—bhatty topinaking merino greasy, par to o p.c. lower; merino other descriptions greasy, especially Continental sorts, 5 .to 7% p.c. lower; good scoured merino, none offered, average to inferior scoured merino, 10 p.c. lower; crossbred, fine greasy 5 to 7% p.c, medium and coarse greasy. 7% to 10 p.c, slipe 10 to 15 p.c, all lower. PROBABLE 'OFFERINGS. The New Zealand Farmers' Co-opera-tive Distributing Company, Ltd. s, London office, dated 7th July, reports: Wool sales opened to-day and prices, compared with last London series, good merinos par to o per cent, down, others V& per cent to 10 per cent, down; fine crossbreds, 5 per cent, down;' medium crossbreds, coarse crossbreds, 7% per cent, to 10 per cent down; slipe, 5 per cent, to 10 per cent cheaper; about 7000 bales; attendance good, buyers all sections-trade; fair,competition. -Anticipate following quanties. will be catalogued throughout series: Australian, 61,000 bales; New Zealand, 64,600 bales; others, 20,000. REPRESENTATIVE CATALOGUES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, has received the following advice from its London office, dated 7th July:—"Wool sales: There was a full attendance at the opening ot the sales to-day, competition by Home and Continental buyers being irregular, aucl prices, as compared with the preceding series, ruled %d lower for. fine greasy crossbred, Id lower for medium and coarse greasy crossbred, and Id to l%d lower for slipe crossbred and scoured crossbred.
