ROYAL SAXON ON HAND

The Southern trainers, E. M'Donald, with Umtali, and G. Fielding, with Eoyal Saxon, arrived at Trentham this morning. J. Walker is to ride Umtali in his steeplechase engagements, and D. 0 'Connor, will be on Royal Saxon in the race that is chosen for him. The Eiecarton jumpers, Amorist arid Thurnia, leave Lyttelton to-morrow evening. G. Salt has been engaged for both. Other Eiecarton horses due to leave for the North by to-morrow evening's boat arc S. Barr's quartet, Eascal, Eoyal Mint, Fresh Breeze, and Troilus, and F. B. Jones's Semper Paratus. The Quorn and Metal Bird are sot to make the trip." '■■"■.■'■■.' F. D. Jones allowed all his team :to drop out of Saturday's engagements, but he intends to come North on Monday, for the- second and third days. The two-year-old, Belvoir, is definitely booked for. the trip, while 4he> other three horses, Taragona, Bunraven, and Moorbird, are possibles..

Other Riccarton horses to be sent up from the South for the- final days of the meeting are Sharp Thorn, Zeebrugge, and Winsome Hind.

The Wingatui trainer, S. G-. Ware, left Dunedin with Matu to-day, and will be crossing over to-morrow night.
