HORSES FOR TRENTHAM
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.")
HAWEBA,. This Day
The final gallops of Trenthaui-eri-gagcd horses before leaving hero was performed yesterday morning, the outside of the course proper being again used. The going was slower than on Saturday, but probably better than will be encountered at! Trenthain. J. Fryer has Kisslcss very well, and she again registered -a pleasing performance by finishing in front of Tentcall in a five-furlong gallop • accomplished in lmin 9 l-ssec. • Copey set out for a working gallop over a round at a sound steeplechase pace. His diminutive: rider being unable to .pull him up, Copey 'continued on for over another, round. He promises to strip a. very fit'horse on Saturday. T. Tucker, who has been associated.with him throughout his jumping, is to ride him in his engagements. . The throe hurdlers, Nukumai, Callapat, and Nucleus, were responsible for a splendid work-out over a niilo in company. Starting off smartly, Callapat and Nucleus'led Nukumai for the first two furlongs..Callapat then opened up a gap and led Nucleus by three lengths at the half-mile, Nukumai being a similar distance back. Callapat continued on to lead into the straight, where the other pair closed up. Nukumai, galloping in fine style, got .up to within a long neck of Callapat at the finishing post, with Nucleus several lengths back. The time was lmin 55}se'c. ... ..■:,•■■■ It was. a line effort on the part of Nukumai and Callapat, and if the former is not knocked about in the Wellington Steeplechase he should run a great race in the Winter Hurdles on the concluding day. Callapat's performance also suggests that he will be a hard horse to beat in the hack hurdle races. - " . ' E. Myles is to ride' Nukumai, and A. Jenkins will pilot Callapat. ' Havering has commencedwork again, and was given solid pace work over a couple of rounds on the sand. Hampden, Tavora, Biehfield, and Peter Jackson were "exercised on the same track. The Hawera horses leave- for Tron.tham by to-morrow morning's train. Neucleus appeared sore after being cooled off yesterday, and may not make the trip. ;■. ■ , • ; . .
