SCOTTISH WEDDING

HALSEY—ORR-EWING

A charming Scottish wedding, waa solemnised, at the Parish Church, Portpatrick, Wigtownshire, on [16th May, when Mr. William* Edmund Halsey, younger sou of' Si- Walter and Lady Halsey, of Gaddesden place, Hemel Hempstead, was married to Miss Barbara Dorothea Orr-Ewing, daughter of the la^e Mr. C.' L. Orr-Bwing, M.P., of D imskey,. Portpa'triclc,v and of 'Lady Augusta In skip, and. niece of the Earl of Glasgow and Lady Alice Tergusson. The ceremony was performed by tho Ecv. G. Paterson-Grahanij assisted by the-'Bight Kcv. the Bishop o£ Barking, who' is 'Sir 'Thomas Inskip'a brother, and'the Ebv. J..R. Kennedy. The bride was'escorted by her brother, Lieut.-Com-maud'cV David Orr-Ewing, K.N., and tho brid.ogrgp.m had £ov hisfbestman Squad-ron-Leador. .j\ Fowler, H.A.ir.

Crowda .of. Portpatrick follc, tenants aiid-neighbours of Dunskey, as well as county- people from the district of Galloway ••filled the little church, and on the road to Dunskoy were groups of people' eager to catch a glimpse of the bride. Her dress was of ivory georgette, very fully flared in the skirt, and the bolero bodice sprinkled with diamante. Her train was of old Brussels laco, lent by her, mother, Lady Augusta Inskip, arid from a simple wreath of orange blossom fell the folds of a long tulle veil. The flowers for the bridal bouquet were gathered from the.gardens at Dunskej r. It was of cream :ioses and white carnations, ,Six little girla and one grown-up bridesmaid: followed the bride. Tho children were Miss Dorothea Haviland (hei- cousin), Miss Betsy Jane Piyor (niece of the bridegroom), Miss Euth Halsey (cousin, of. the bridegroom), Miss Fennolla Boyle (cousin of the bii.de),- Miss Veronica Goudy, and Miss Diana Hemiiig Hansilton. Miss Agatha Halsey (a sister Sf the bridegroom) was the only grown-up bridesmaid. The children wore frocks of primrose yellow not to match their posies of primroses, .wMlo pale green sashes and slippers made a happy contrast. On thoir heads they wore little caps of laco. The bridegroom gave them necklets of a.quam'arinc crystal. Miss Halsey was in a dress of yellow, net and satin, with net coate-o and hat to mutel).

Lady Augusta liiakip wore a printed crepe do chine dress of black and whito, with touches of cream lace, and black laco hat. In the congregation wore the Earl o£ Glasgow and his debutaato djiugh'ter, Lady Grizel Boyle; Lady Alice Fergusson, with Sir Charles Forgusson; the Bight Hon. Mr, and Mrs. Alan Boyle, the bridegroom's parents and sisters and his uncle, Sir Lionel Halsey, with Lady Halscy. The Earl and Countess of Stair drove over from Loehineh Castle, and the JSavl and Countess of Galloway went from thoir home at Newton Stewart. ■

After- tho ceremony Lady Augusta Inskip and Sir Thomas liiskip hold a reception at Dunskey. Others present, in addition to those already mentioned, included: Mrs. E. L. Orr-Ewing, Mrs. David Orr-Swing, Mr. B..A'. Iriskip, the Misses Halsey, Mr. Pryor, Mrs. Havil.ind, Mr. Jafhes Fergusson, Oieuoral and Sirs. Walter Hunter Blair, Major mid Mr.H.
