FINANCIAL DECREES
DRASTIC RETRENCHMENT CUT IN WAR PENSIONS BERLIN, 6th June. President Hindenburg has signed new financial decrees which are expected to yield ninety millions sterling and turn a deficit of sixty-two millions into a surplus of twentyeight millions. Practically every German is affected by the decrees. The pensions of 660,----000 war invalids have been rednccd 10 per cont., and an even greater number of widows and orphans have been similarly reduced. Two hundred thousand will be added to tho present half-million workless who receive no benofit of any description from the Government. All taxpayers will be subject to a new incoino tax.
