REMITS FROM BRANCHES
Among the remits carried at the meeting of the Dominion executive o£ the NewZealand Farmers'.'Union, which was continued last evening, were the following:— "That the attention of the Government be drawn to the excessive rate of interest charged by .merchants for fertilisers purchased on credit."
"That the .attention of the Dominion executive be'drawn to: a large range of artificial silk goods admitted duty free, and that they be tasked'to urge upon the Minister of Custdms and the Government that necessary steps be taken to 'lower the duty on woollen goods of British manufacture." "That'the Government be asked to take stringent steps to'prevent the importation of barley infested with rust or smuts." "That the Government give full backing fo rural credit bonds."' "That the Unemployment Board in framing its policy be urged to provide a special subsidy to enable dairy farmers to retain their seasonal employees during the winter months."
"That the Unemployment Board be approaclied, with a view of formulating a scheme giving farmers the same facilities as local bodies under the No. 5 scheme. All work done to be of a reproductive nature, and which otherwise would not have been done." > Other remits urging the Government to reduce the interest rate on the new issue of Government bonds and the rate existing in New Zealand for loan money generally were approved.
