LABOUR MAYOR'S OPINION

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHEISTCHUKCH, This Day. In an election address, on Saturday evening, the Mayor (the Rev. .T. K. Archer), who is a Labour candidate for councillor, said: "Some people think that the Labour Party candidates are primarily, if not exclusively, opposing the 10 per cent, reduction in the wages of City Council employees, but I want to make it clear that if there are any sacrifices to be made they must share in them. lam opposed, to the whole principle of wage reductions generally." Other Labour candidates say definitely that if the Labour Party secures a majority on the council they will immediately restore the 10 per cent, cut made in the wages of council empuloyees.
