WESTPOET, 2nd May, • At a meeting to-day held in Westport, a district council was constituted in accordance with the National Industrial Council set up at an open conference in Wellington, and it was decided to hold a monster Labour demonstration in Victoria square on 12th May to protest against the wages cut. The meeting also protested against the arrest and gaoling of workers in connection with unemployed demonstrations, claiming the right of workers to demonstrate as a means of expressing their opinions on political and industrial matters.
