BUTTER IN CANADA.

It is learned -■ from a private letter received from British Columbia that hostility to New Zealand butter in Canada was helped by packing it in Canada, in Canadian wrappers and selling it as a Canadian product. This practice, it was explained, helped to put eight cents per pound duty on New Zealand butter entering Canada. Furthermore, the overloading of the Canadian market with New Zealand butter when the export had reached £2,000.000 was a factor in the imposition of the practically prohibitive duty.
