FINANCIER GUALINO
INTERNATIONAL CASE
LONDON, 26th AprlL The "Daily Mail's" Paris correspondent says that an extraordinary trans-frontier examination, unparalleled in European judicial procedure, will bo conducted when Riecardo Gualino, brought by the Italian authorities from Lipari, will bo tried. A wooden shed with two doors is being erected, on the Franco-Italian frontier with one door opening on the Italian side and the other on the French side. In the middle of the hut will be a table, half in Italy and half in France. Italian gendarmes will bring Gualino through the Italian door and sit with the Consul on the Italian side of tho table. Two French Magistrates and clerks will sit opposite and interrogato him. Tho proceedings are expected to last two days.
Commondatore 'Riecardo Gualino, an international financier and one of Italy's biggest business men, was arrested in January, charges of fraud in two countries being lodged against him. Tho arrest followed a-crisis in tho Banca Agricola, which was used as the instrument of his speculations. Gualino pioneered the artificial silk industry, owned a picture gallery, a Moorish castle, and a racing stud which ho supplied with horses from England, and bought and sold newspapers. He is alleged to be involved in the notorious Oustric . affair, which caused', political crises in France recently, and involved politicians in fraud charges on which they will shortly be tried. ,
