FLOATING DOCK

REPORT FROM ENGINEERS

Beporting to the Harbour Board last evening upon the progress of Wellington's new floating dock, which is being built at Home, the General Manager (Mr. J. Marehbanlvs) said that ho had been advised by Messrs. Clark and Standficld (consulting engineers) that, •with the exception of a .small nmouot of plating for the side all of tho steel which comprised 4222 tons of hull material had been prepared. Approximately 3365 tons' had boon erected, and 2770 tons riveted. All the pipes for the main pumping system of tho dock had been delivered, and 10 per cent, of them had boon placed and jointed. In reply to a question the chairman (Mr. J. M'Ewan) saia the work was »bead of schedule.
