MID AUTUMN BLOOMS
FLOWER SHOW PARTY,
A particularly pleasant part of the flower show yesterday afternoon was the afternoon tea party given by Dr. Arnold Izard and Mrs. ,Knox Gilmer, who had arranged to bo host and hostoss for the function, and who had made charming arrangements for their guests. After the reception of Their Excellencies by Dr. Izard (president), and the opening speech by His Excellency, the party, which included the Mayor and Mrs. Troup/Mrs. Knox Gilmer, and Lieutenant Elworthy, K.N., made a tour of the hall, when the beautiful exhibits were much admired. The general opinion expressed was that it is really a very fine show, considering the late unfortunate weather. Her Excellency was in floral chiffon, patterned in pastel shades of green and rose, with green cloth coat to tone, white furs, and a green felt beretta. She was presented with! a beautiful bouquet by a very small "subject of the King," Judith Tunnington, who was dainty in rose coloured jumper and pleated skirt. Mrs. Knox Gilmer was in navy blue, with touches of beige, and a hat to match. The Mayoress was in black with white furs. There was an official table, which was charmingly decorated with flowers. Among the guests were Mrs. and tho Misses Forbes, Mrs. Ransom, Lady Roberts, Sir John and Lady Luke, Sir Harold and Lady Boauchainp, Lady Buckletou and Miss Buckleton, Lady M'Gavin, Sir Heaton Ehodes and his sister, Mrs. Willis, Mrs. ]?. Dyer, Mrs. C. Morice, Mrs. Wilson, [Mrs. Underwood, Mr. MacKonzie (secrotary of the society), Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Y. Seddon, "Mrs. Davidson, Mrs. Horbert, and Miss Ncylon. Mrs. Knox Gilmer had a special stall with very beautiful "cut flowers and posies, which were sold for tho benefit of the society.' His Excellency's fine trophy was on view, as also were throe presented by Mrs. Knox Gilmor. The floral decorations of baskets aud bowls, etc., were the subject of general admiration, ■ and showed how the floral art is extending.
