CONTRIBUTION STOPPED

(By Telegraph.)

(Special to "The Evening Post.") | CIIRISTCHUKCH, This Day. , Members of the Christchurch . Drainage Board criticised the Government's decision as expressed in a letter from the Under-Secrctary of the Public i Works Department that the annual contribution of £150 for the disposal of the sewage from Government buildings would not' bo renewed. "This is pconomy run mad," declar-1 ed Mr. E. H. S. Hamilton. "It is tak- j Ing the amount from the Government' General Account and putting it on to the ratepayers of this city.'' , Members suggested cutting off the j service. The chairman, Mr. W. J. Walter, suggested that the Minister of Public' Works should bo approached. It cer- j tainly was not fair to put the burden] on the ratepayers. Cutting off the service would bo going too far. Tho secretary was instructed to re-, fuse further permits to the Govern-1 ment in tho meantime.
