DUNEDIN, This Day.

"Economy gone mad" was how Fire Board members described the. Government notification that its contribution to fire boards would be reduced 10 per cent. :■■■■■■'

It was contended that the Act stipulated that the amount was to be contributed anually, and tha.t there was no legality in the Government's step, which was the more hard since the board's estimates had' just; been approved. It was resolved to seek the co-opera-tion of other boards in a protest asking the Government by what authority it had amended the Act. -, :
