CHICHESTER DECLINES

WILL COME ONLY BY AJR

SYDNEY, 21st April,

It was expected that the New Zealand airman, Mr. F. C. Chichester, would be on board the Makamoj which arrived in Sydney to-day. Officers reported, however, that Chichester had resolved that the only way ho would come to Sydney^ was by air. , Minor parts of his aeroplane were aboard. These will be returned to Lord Howo Island after repairs have been effected.

Chichestor flew from New Zealand to Norfolk Island, thence to Howe Island, but his courageous dash to Australia was interrupted on 3rd April, when his machine was overturned in a lagoon at the second stopping-place.
