NEWTOWN CLUB'S MEETING

The report of the past year's activities presented at the. annual meeting of the Newtown Club stated that although the 1930 season was started with enthusiasm, interest fell away, principally on account of conditions at League Park and its distance from town. Several of the club's players favourably impressed the New Zealand selector (Mr. E. Asher), and one, L. Simon, was selected to play in the Possibles y. Probables match at Auckland. In view of the fact that the new Winter Show Stadium had been secured for the code, prospects for this season were considered to be very much brighter than last year. The need for training was stressed, and in this connection the secretary was' instructed to apply to the League.Centre for the use of. the pavilion at the stadiuui-on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. ■ .
