THE CANADIAN TOUR'

As the result of ;>. letter received fronv the Football Association of Canada,, th« arrangements o£ the New Zealand Football Association for a tour of Canada by, a- New Zealand team next year will hay* to be conducted on a different basis pi negotiation from that which has been used no far. A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association, over which, ilr. F. Campbell presided, was held yesterday afternoon. As stated by members of the council, it had been understood tbafc New Zealand would bo able to return on similar terms the tour made by the Canadians some time ago. The letter said that a British team was touring Canada this year, and the Canadia.ii Association could not favour tours of Canada iv tw<» successive years. If New Zealand, however, was sending a team to the Olympic Games and desired to make a tour of Canada, th« New Zealand Association could be assured of co-operation from the Canadian body. A challenge to Auckland for the Football Association Trophy was received from the Wellington Football Association. A letter received from the Canterbury Football Association said that the Canterbury Primary Schools' Sports Association had given the Soccer code its official recognition, and would control games in. the public schools. This was regarded' a» a strong forward. movement for Association football in Canterbury. As there wan a strong boys' division in Canterbury, it was proposed to throw the full weight of the association behind this phase of tha game. There would be 45 teams under tha jurisdiction of the association.1 The Taranaki Football Association wroM stating that an enthusiastic annual meeting had been held, and there was every indication of a; forward movement in th» province. In reply to a letter from tbc South Auckland Football Association regarding a proposed change of headquarters, it /was decided to write that the council'considered the time not opportune for the shifting of headquarters from Hamilton ti» Huntly. No Soccer will be played in the Marlborough Province thisseason, according to a letter received from' the Maryborough Football Association. Last year only thre*. club games were played. A letter received from the Auckland Football Association stated that the question of a North v. South Island secondary schools match had been referred't» the Minor Divisions Committee. Tha Auckland Association was strongly in favour of the fixture as a means of fostering the game in secondary schools. Th« first Grammar School Old Boys' Soccer Club had been formed in Auckland. No Soccer had been played at the Grammar School until recently, owing to the hold of Rugby, and this' showed that a number of players were now taking part in tha' game in secondary schools. . •■ The following committees were appointed:—Chairman 'of the -council, Mr. Ji.
