ATTENDING OF LECTURES
. (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. A ruling was given recently that officers of the Lands and Survey Department taking the course for the degree of Bachelor ;of Science should not be allowed to make up time off' for.'lectures, but that a deduction, should be made from their- salaries. .As an important principle was involved, the Begistrar of the Auckland. University. College interviewed" the Public Service Commissioner, who accepted a: recommendation that time off be allowed. The Begistrar says that a very important principle had been involved concerning the universities and the Public Service generally. Mr. Versehaffelthad been, very sympathetic' on the -.general question, of degrees for those in the service, ana the universities were indebted to him for his attitude.; ..-:
