SEVERE FIGHTING
REVOLUTION IN HONDURAS
U.S. CRUISERS SENT
NEW YORK, 19th April. TJio headquarters of the Standard Fruit and Steamship Company at New Orleans has received Honduras dispatclies reporting that a well-organised revolution has started in the north along the coast of Honduras. The Government has ordered cruisers to proceed to Honduras and' Nicaragua after receiving reports of a Houduvas revolution. A message from Tegucigalpa states that rebels, headed by Roman Diaz, attacked the towa of Tela this afternoon. After severe fighting they were repelled by the Government troops. The number of casualties is unknown. Other groups attacked Sonaguora, but were repelled. At Saba and near Progreso the Government troops defeated rebel parties. . ' Further" messages report that the revolution appears to be the most comprehensive which has broken out since 1924, and is fast gaining headway. Heavy fighting between the revolutionaries and Government troops is reported, but broken. communications have prevented the receipt of details. The insurgents are stated to have captured two north coast cities. Three United States cruisers are rushing to the scene to remove American nationals, of whom it is said there are 1000 in the danger zone. Women and children are fleeing from the interior in the hope of reaching safety on ships along the sea coast.
