AN INTERESTING LECTURE

An interesting lantern lecture was given by Mr. L. J. Berry, secretary of the Newspaper Proprietors' Association at the Northumberland and Durham Association's monthly social on "Experiences Abroad with the Press Conference. speaker, who accompanied the New Zealand delegation to last year's conference, outlined briefly the purposes of the Press Conference, and then took his audience, with the aid of lantern slides, through much of England's and Scotland s lovely countryside, and many of the principal cities, and held the attention of all by his crisp description of the places of interest. Views of Canada were shown, also pictures of the New Zealand delegates and many of Britain's loading politicians. At tho conclusion of the address the president, Mr. Keith M'Allum, expressed the pleasure and thanks of all present to Mr. Bony, and lo Mr. A. Whitclaw, who operated the lantern. Refreshments were served and the rpst of the evening was rtaken up by dandng.
