Lethaby, a candidate for the City Council, speaking, at Houghton Bay on the subject of reserves and beaches expenditure, were given .a. false meaning. Mr. Lothaby-said that, Mr. Hislop had indicated that the present vote for reserves, baths, and beaches should be reduced by £5000, and he agreed with. his suggestion. The present vote for the reserves, baths, and beaches stood.at £40,252 13s 3d, out of which reserves'received ' £33,634, and baths £6608, so that jittle or nothing had been spent on beaches "alone.
