THE WAGE CUT
A.S.R.S. PROTEST
At a special emergency meeting of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants' National Executive, the following resolution was carried unanimously: "The executive'council of the A.S.R.S., on behalf of the 9000 members in the society, records its most emphatic protest against the provisions of the Finance Bill now before Parliament. We condemn the measure as;a vicious attack on the standard of living of the workers of the Service, and are especially opposed to it because of the class character of the proposals, in that it ! places the greater^ portion of the burden on the lower paid members. The executive therefore urges upon members of the society throughout the Dominion to note for consideration at the next General Election the votes and attitude of members of Parliament on this Bill, which deprives their families and themselves of-their standard of living.?' "That a letter of appreciation and thanks be forwarded to the, Leader of the Labour Party for the great fight put up on behalf of the Public Servants of the country."
