STORMY WEATHER

UNPROMISING OUTLOOK

After several days of fairly fine and pleasant ■weather, a decided change has set in, and there is now every indication of several days of unsettled and stormy weather. Strong northerly winds will be general, and will reach gale force in places. Tlio weather in all parts of the Dominion is likely to bo dull, misty, and stormy, with general rain developing. Some heavy falls can bo expected. Temperatures will be mild, and, although the expected rain will be of benefit to the country, it will hardly be welcomed by holiday-makers. The cause of the change is an intenso disturbance, the front of which has already reached New Zealand from the Tasman Sea. Pressure has fallen considerably in the South, and northerly wind have already become strong. Fairly general rain set in last night in the South Island. Palls wore only light and scattered on the East Coast, but in western districts and in high country some heavy falls were recorded. Okuru topped the list with 398 points, Arthur's Pass having 230, Greymouth 82, and Queenstown 63. Yesterday's weather was generally flue in eastern and northern districts, but in westorn'districts it was cloudy, with scattered showers. Auckland had a fine clay yesterday, with a moderate south-westerly to westerly wind. It was pleasantly fine and warm in Wellington, the wind being a light northerly. The morning hi Christchurch was fine, but the afternoon was dull. Dtmedin bad a fine day, followed, by rain at night.
