SOCCER SEASON
ASSOCIATION MEETING
The fortieth annual meeting of the Wellington Football Association was held last evening in the Pavilion, Basin Reserve, with a large attendance of 'delegates. Mr. 3. 3. Roberts presided. The annual report and balance-sheet, which have already been published, were adopted. In moving the adoption of the annual report," the • chairman congratulated the winners of the various competitions, and paid tribute to the work of the Management Committee. He appealed to players and others interested in the game to popularise the Kilbiraie ground, which was an asset to be proud of. He concluded by thanking the Press for .publishing the results English Soccer matches, which interested those who had come from Home. He looked forward,' ho said, to a successful season. Mr. W. B. Hicks, chairman of the Management Committee and sole selector, remarked that he hoped soon to be able to pick a team to beat Auckland. "So far," he said, "we have only managed to give them a severe fright." The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, His Excellency the Gover-nor-General; president, Mr. J. .T. The suggestion that it should be a recommendation to. the incoming Management Committee to remit the capitation fee of unemployed players was negatived.. Clubs, it was suggested, should organise to help themselves and not push the work on to the association. The question of charges of admission to grounds was considered in committee. Mr. W. Fraser (Waterside) moved that a judicial committee of three be set up to deal with offending players. There was too much rough play last.season, he. said, and the gnme was getting a bad name. The chairman said that such a motion, could not be accepted, as it meant taking the management out of the hands of,the: Management Committee. It would require notice of motion, and a special meeting to alter the constitution in this way. It was agreed, however, to recommend the Management Committee to set up ,1 sub-committee to deal with offending players.
