FREE AMBULANCE
ABOUT £200 COLLECTED
The funds of the Wellington. Free Ambulance have been augmented by the sum of about £200, the result oil the street collection yesterday. The chairman (Mr. C. J. B. Norwood) and the members or! the board desire to. oxpress their appreciation of tho generous support of the public at such a difficult time. The general arrangements for the day were made by the superintendent, Mr. F. W. Boffe, who was assisted by a committee of ladies, headed by Mrs. Norwood and Mrs. Jackson. Lunch for collectors was provided at the following hotels: Masonic, Clarendon, Windsor, Carlton, Boyal Oak, St. George, Midland, Empire, and Cecil. The results were as. follows:— Lambton quay (Mrs. Norman), £9 10s 3d; Bouleott street (Mrs. Gledhill, Mrs. Gibbons, and Miss Norwood), £16 4s 4cV; D.I.C. and Kirkcaldie and Stains (ladies of St. John Ambulance, Mrs. Gaby, and Mrs. Osborne), £29 14s 7d; Stewart Dawson's (Mrs. Pow and Mrs. Myers), £13 19s 3d; Bowen street (Mrs. Aston)', £16 7s 7d; Post Office (Mrs. Bramley), £15 11s 6dj Veitch and Allen (Mrs. Morrison), £4.4s 4d; James Smith's (Mrs. M'Gowan), £16 6s 6d; Courtenay place (Mrs. Goldsmith), £16 3s lOd; total,- £138 2s 2d.
In addition, £30 3s 5d was collected by Lady Eoberts, Mayoress of Lower liutt, and returns are yet to come from Lyall Bay, Pctouo, and Upper Hutt.
